INTERVENTION IN 2012 / CURRENT ADVANCEMENTS
The purpose of the conference is to increase the particpants' understanding of intervention strategies when trying to help an individual that is addicted. There are several areas of a person's life where professionals and family members can intervene such as, the courts, the workplace, the home, the hospital and the community. Professionals in these fields will share their experience and knowledge about the most effective ways to intervene in each of these areas.
Other issues that will be covered include: the importance of meditation and the 12 steps in recovery, treating professional athletes, problem gambling, stop smoking initiatives, stress management. The conference will encourage an open discussion of new ideas and explore ways to understand, prevent and treat addiction. The conference will provide the latest information about many important issues in addiction treatment.
The target audience for this conference
consists of health care professionals of all
disciplines; professionals that work in the
field of addiction and mental health, criminal
justice professionals, recovering persons,
family members and friends who wish to become
more knowledgeable; and advocates for these
issues.
Participants will
receive six CEUs for the following disciplines:
Nurses, Certified Addiction Counselors, EAPs
Social Workers, Professional Counselors and
Psychologists.
